Cutting Edge Expertise
SESCO has an expertise in Toxicology and Vapor Intrusion issues. The scientific information in these fields continues to change rapidly.

The USEPA has recently determined that common indoor air background levels can exceed health protective screening or action levels. New methods of interpretation have been developed to better understand indoor air sampling results. The inability to understand when subsurface vapor intrusion is occurring may create unnecessary public concern, set the stage for potential liability litigation and misapply remedial measures. USEPA and some progressive states have changed their policy to incorporate this new level of understanding.

Time & Cost Saving Approach & Technology
We employ a Risk-Based Closure (RBC) team to develop a Conceptual Site Model (CSM) to establish the goals and actions necessary to reach the final outcome of each project. The RBC team is comprised of a regulatory toxicologist, a remediation engineer, a senior-level geologist and the project manager that manages the project. SESCO’s approach to a project is very similar to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Triad that utilizes systematic planning, dynamic work strategies and real-time measurement technologies to achieve quicker delineation and quicker cleanup at sites.

SESCO also uses the Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) technology to assist in quicker delineation. This available technology results in achieving the corrective action phase of the project in a cost-effective and timely manner.

SESCO’s Unified Assessment™ is using the MIP and combining the Phase I and Limited Subsurface Investigation (LSI) assessments. SESCO can provide real-time data to answer the question: “Is there a contamination issue with this property?” This industry innovation significantly reduces time and cost.

Funding Solutions
SESCO’s consulting practice and experience includes funding environmental investigations and remediation. The various funding solutions include historical insurance recovery of Comprehensive General Liability (CGL) policies, Excess Liability Trust Fund (ELTF), grants and low-interest loan assistance.
